SABOT is CAMEC's Central and Southern African focused transport and logistics business, which not only produces revenue as a stand alone entity, but ensures that the Company can satisfy all it logistics requirements in house. The business was instrumental in construction the 50,000 m² under roof copper cobalt Luita facility in the DRC in under a year.


SABOT Management Limited, CAMEC's wholly owned subsidiary, is a Seychelles-registered company that markets transport and logistics services throughout Southern and Central Africa. The Company continues to invest in new vehicles and depots to ensure that it solidifies its premier market position within the region. The Board feel that logistics is a critical component of doing business in Africa and SABOT is an essential part of that given the Company's expansion throughout the continent. The economies in Southern and Central Africa are growing as is the demand for fast and efficient road transport which SABOT provides.

CAMEC - The DRC's leading copper and cobalt mining company

Currently, the fleet consists of 450 Volvo trucks, trailers and tankers, which are registered to and maintained by Cargo Carriers International Hauliers in Zimbabwe. Its major activities include the haulage of food aid, minerals, glass, fertilizer, tobacco, salt, flour and general cargo to name a few. Strict maintenance schedules ensure the fleet runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Orders in early 2007 mean that SABOT has tandem axle flatdeck Superlink trailers, AFRIT triaxle trailers, Interlink Trailers plus Sliding Curtain combinations as well as side and end-tip trailers.


SABOT Management Limited strength lies in its infrastructure - depots/offices in Johannesburg, Messina, Beit Bridge, Harare, Chirundu, Lusaka, Kitwe, Kasumbalesa, Lilongwe and Lubumbashi. This, coupled with 30 years of international transport experience in Southern Africa, has given SABOT Management Limited a reputation in the transport industry as one of the best.


This infrastructure is also supported by 1,000 members of staff, some of whom have up to 25-years service, which span throughout the region, from Johannesburg through to Kakanda in the DRC.


The region as a whole is growing, as is the demand for fast and efficient road transport. This will inevitably lead to the development of SABOT Management Limited and of CAMEC's ability to operate in Africa and secure additional revenue. Currently 40% of the fleet is involved with CAMEC's mining operations primarily moving capex equipment into the DRC and product out.
